Broadway? The movies? Miss Conception does Halifax

Hilarious, quick-witted and with a devoted following in Toronto, Miss Conception brings two of her favourite live singing and dancing shows to The Waiting Room during Halifax Pride.

Sandy from Grease? Sally Bowles from Cabaret? Little Orphan Annie? The Lion King?

Who will Miss Conception do next?

That was the question on the lips of Kazan Co-op artistic director Kathryn MacLellan, when she saw the Toronto drag artist perform in Mexico while visiting a friend.

“She’s hilarious, quick-witted and has quite the repartée. She has a big following in Toronto. I met her after the show and asked have you ever been to Nova Scotia and when she said she hadn’t, I said let’s get you there.

“We’re doing this show in conjunction with Pride. I thought it was a great way to finish off our fifth-anniversary year. Weekend Healer (in May) was a heavy drama and this is just the opposite, fun entertainment from a very skilled performer. He sings and dances and his show is very smart.”

Kevin Levesque, the performer who brings Miss Conception to life, has opened for Will and Grace’s Leslie Jordan, performed with RuPaul’s Drag Race’s Courtney Act, had her own show with Second City Toronto and has been featured on TV shows Queer as Folk and Degrassi, The Next Generation.
