On International Transgender Day of Remembrance (TDoR) we memorialize our dead.

“My grief lies all within, and these external manners of lament are merely shadows to the unseen grief that swells with silence in the tortured soul” William Shakespeare

We honour lives lost to hatred and violence. Let us reflect and commit to equality and justice for all.

The Transgender Day of Remembrance was founded in 1999 by Gwendolyn Ann Smith to memorialize Rita Hester. Now each November 20 th Transgender Day of Remembrance takes place around the world.

In the past 12 months almost 300 trans and gender-diverse persons from 33 countries were added to the list of reported homicides. It is impossible to estimate the number of unreported cases.
