How time flies. Same-sex marriage has been legal in Canada for 11 years now. However, it was not until this past weekend that the federal Conservative party voted to drop their official policy excluding same-sex marriage.

Meanwhile, on the topic of marriage, here are two upcoming LGBT Vancouver events that will interest couples hearing wedding bells.

Same-sex couples hoping to get married or wanting to renew their vows can do so this year in a very public way can do so at a marriage ceremony to be held on the main stage at the Vancouver Pride Festival held at Sunset Beach on July 31.

The only cost is the marriage license.

Sister Festivus Illuminata of the Vancouver Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, who is an ordained minister and is sanctioned to perform and solemnize marriages in B.C., Alberta, Ontario, and Quebec, will officiate the ceremony.

Anyone interested in participating in the ceremony should contact Sister Festivus through her website.
