RIP Confederate Flag 1861 – 2015
Alabama Gov. Robert Bentley ordered the four Confederate flags on the state Capitol grounds in Montgomery to be taken down this morning, June 24th. South Carolina. Gov. Nikki Haley announced in a Monday June 22nd afternoon news conference that she supports removing the Confederate flag from the state capitol grounds. A final vote is still required in South Carolina to make it official. The symbol will also be removed from Virginia license plates.
What about the Dukes of Hazzard and the featuring of the flag on merchandise such as souvenirs? This will all be changing as several states are feeling the heat after the deadly shootings in Charleston, South Carolina.
Walmart, Amazon, eBay and Sears all announced bans on the sale of Confederate flag merchandise, amid an intensifying national debate over the use of the controversial flag.
The flag was 154 years old at the time of its sudden death.
