Police are investigating after hate literature was delivered to the front doorsteps of dozens of homes in Mission, Chilliwack and Abbotsford Monday morning.

Ken Rothe is still in disbelief after he found a note claiming to be from the Loyal White Knights of the Ku Klux Klan on his property. The note came in a clear plastic bag filled with rice, presumably to weigh down the package so it could be tossed from a moving vehicle.

“I’d like to think in Canada this stuff doesn’t go on, but here it is right in front of us,” he said. “It’s really tough to swallow.”

KKK recruitment flyers hurled at dozens of Abbotsford doorsteps: Police

Abbotsford Police are investigating after KKK literature was thrown onto residents’ doorsteps overnight.

Sealed plastic bags contained hateful flyers which listed Klan recruitment hotlines and included the headline ‘White Lives Do Matter,’ along with rice to make the bags heavier and easier to throw.

“It’s almost along a path where somebody either travelling on a bicycle or by foot or in a car could easily just launch these things probably from the street because of the weight of the bags.”

KKK flyers distributed on doorsteps in Abbotsford

The Abbotsford Police Department (APD) is investigating whether a hate crime has been committed after literature promoting the Ku Klux Klan was distributed on doorsteps in the community on Monday.

Const. Ian MacDonald said a resident called the APD just after 1 a.m. Monday to report that a Ziploc bag had been dropped on their doorstep and contained a one-page flyer titled “Loyal White Knights of the Ku Klux Klan” with a small amount of rice for weight.

An officer who went to the area then located a total of 32 packages distributed in the neighbourhood – in and around the west end of McKee Road, including Cassiar Road and Glenshiel Drive.
