DJ O Show, aka Orene Askew, is the embodiment of what positive and forward thinking can accomplish. Orene started her DJ business just over 5 years ago, but has been bringing amazing experiences to events for over 8 years, and recently celebrated in grand style by celebrating her 5th anniversary party.
Orene has been featured in several television appearances, including Go Vancouver, My Vancouver, Breakfast Television, and On Da Grine. She has worked for radio stations such as Washington’s Movin 92.5, the Beat 94.5, Coop Radio, and hosting on the O Show on Evolution 107.5.

Orene was born and raised on the North Shore and currently resides on the Xwemelch’stn reserve (Squamish Nation), and attends Capilano University.
“If you have knowledge you should always share it, my grandmother’s teachings” said Orene in a recent posting while instructing a class in the community. Orene provides motivational advise which helps young people succeed. Being a motivational speaker is an important part of Orene’s portfolio.
Orene has a passion to speak to aboriginal entrepreneurs. She has dedicated her career to education, maximizing opportunity, and inclusion for First Nation members. In 2015, Orene Askew was awarded the BC Aboriginal Business Award for Excellence. “True leadership is achieved when you share your power. We need to help our young people. If you have perfected your business or your craft, why not share that knowledge with a young person”, said Orene at her acceptance speech in 2015.
Orene is currently running for Council for the Squamish nation. Elections take place in early December and her campaign is well underway. Her mandate includes youth, by providing opportunities to learn and grow, and creating safe spaces in her neighborhood for young people. Education and Entrepreneurship round out her election platform.
DJ O Show is The Head Instructor at the School of Remix, teaching students with an inspired approach to pursue their dream of becoming a DJ.
