The annual AIDS Walk has evolved, and the Scotiabank AIDS Walk to THRIVE wants people living with HIV to THRIVE. THRIVE Music Festival takes place following the AIDS Walk on Saturday September 16, 2017. Itinerary below
The 2 km Walk around Lost Lagoon in Stanley Park, starts and ends at Malkin Bowl. Teams are competing to raise funds and it’s still early enough to get your own team started or join as an individual on a team. Live Music Performances by:
Celebrities Nightclub has put together an entertainment lineup that features live music by HUMANS, I M U R, and Desiree Dawson. Hosted by Ryan Steele and Symone, the stage will feature Vancouver DJ Skylar Love, and performances by IIona, South East, Maiden China, Cleopatra Compton, Rose Butch, and Shanel.
HUMANS is a Canadian indie-electronic duo made up of musicians Robbie Slade and Peter Ricq. With a focus on performance and production styles, the team creates sounds that audiophiles will appreciate.
Following their gig dates in Seattle and Edmonton, I M U R arrives in Vancouver to play THRIVE. The Electronic/Experimental R&B/Soul band features Jenny Lea on vocals and keys, Mikey J Blige on electric guitar and production, and Amine Bouzaher on electric violin and bass. The Vancouver band has a 90’s sound influence with bits of hip hop, and soul. I M U R (I am you are) released “Slow Dive” in August of 2015, garnering acclaim from Vancouver’s underground music scene. A top act to keep an eye on!
Hailing from Vancouver, Desiree Dawson has a warm smile and soulful voice, winning the 2016 CBC Searchlight Competition, her skills on the ukulele are remarkable. Desiree connects with musicians around the world, and offers positive energy. She has opened for Bands like the legendary Jim Byrnes, Jah9, and performed at many Vancouver Pride concerts.
DJ and Stage Performances
Hosts Ryan Steele and the fabulous Symone, will be joined by DJ Skylar Love’s spinning skills and energy pumping vibes, while some of Vancouver top Drag performers will do what they do best, delight, thrill festival goers.
All ages event with 19+ Beer Garden plus much more on site.
