Blessing of the Animals: St. Andrew’s-Wesley United Church

Bless all Animals and the Environment

Bring the creatures you love so Rev. Dan Chambers and Jen Cunnings can give a blessing to them.

This Sunday, St. Andrew’s-Wesley United Church will conduct it’s annual Blessing of the Animals.

The annual event recognizes that your animals love lives on after they are gone. Animal Blessings have been done since the 12th century and is held around St. Francis’ Feast Day on October 4. St. Francis of Assisi is the patron saint of animals and the environment.

The beautiful ceremony is for all animals, including the animals on farms and in the wild. Most cats don’t do well in strange environments. If your pet is scared/terrified, then the pet should be left at home. Bringing a photo of your pet is encouraged.
